First time to eat a meal at the restaurant & it was really good! Fried oyster dinner was perfect! Our waitress was spot on all the time! We will definitely be back! Great to have a place on our beautiful Chain of Lakes to enjoy a dinner with family & friends!

Just had lunch and awful!!! Flat bread not like the photo at all. It was thick and very doughy. They slapped cheese on it you could not taste any of the ingredients. I could not eat it. I will not go back again. Thought this place would be special. Feel like I am eating in a warehouse, absolutely NO atmosphere.

I don't understand what the huge rave about Tanner's was in Winter Haven? Maybe it was the fact that Winter Haven needs new restaurants or maybe for the Lakeside view? I went for my grandma's birthday for their brunch buffet. The food was mediocre, the scrambled eggs obviously have been sitting there for awhile since discoloration of the yellow on the bottom of egg started creeping up the stiff pile of egg and cheese. Head's up, on Sunday afternoons they only serve that buffet and 4 options off the menu. That would have been nice to know because when you look on their menu online, you are lead to believe that they will have awesome food, cool environment, and friendly service. Somewhat disappointed, but willing to give Tanner's another chance for dinner one day.

First time here tonight. Gave our name since we showed up with no reservation and said we'd be at the bar when a table became open. Bartender Daryl was very friendly while we waited to be notified of a table. When we realized that customers at the bar who came in after us were being seated, we asked Daryl if we could eat at one of the high tops. The entree I had, grouper with mango salsa, was delicious. Hubby liked his ribeye. Salad was also tasty. Dessert not so great. Chocolate Lava Cake was disappointing.....basically a barely warmed, dry cupcake (no warm fudge filling) with a side of vanilla ice cream. We will go back and give another try but will make reservations for a lakeside table. Hopefully they will have a better system than giving our name and being told "we'll find you." ,

We were out on the chain with our boat and decided to tie up on the dock and have some lunch. It wasn't busy, we got seated, our party of 6 including 2 six year olds. We waited for about 5 minutes, not greeted, but you could see at least 5 servers on the floor and pass by us. My husband went and told the hostess we needed service and about 2 minutes later a pleasant server came to our table. She got our drink order, 3 beers and 3 sweet teas and that took forever, the bartender was super busy chatting it up with her 5 bar guests. I get it it's your job to be friendly but also to pour beers! Again the place was slow, no reason to wait on 2 draft beers and a bottle of bud light... Any hoo, we ordered and I asked the server if she could change the channel on the tv, it was an infomercial about children with cleft palette, and it was not something my 6 year old really needs to watch, it's sad and as a parent I had to explain why those little kids had facial deformities and how they were going to be ok. Why was that channel even on, when I asked if they could change it, the server was quick to point out what was wrong with them as if I was an idiot, i know what cleft palate is and under no circumstances was I making fun of that but she made it seem like I was. Not cool, a yes I will see what I can do would do! The channel remained on the tv, so I took the kids outside till our food arrived. When we came back in, guess what? Cleft palate channel was still on. At this point my super sensitive daughter is almost crying over these kids on the tv, I went over to the bar to get the bartender to change the channel she again was super busy chatting so I asked a server, not ours, if he could change it. The attitude of the staff is pretty much of the I don't care, he changed it but not nice about it. My question is where is management, they burnt one of our party's cheese fries, and it took forever for the new fries, no manager came over to make sure everything was ok. I gave 3 stars for the food and view. Our server did a good job but the whole tv thing was uncalled for. I have been in the restaurant business for 20 years and I rarely write critical reviews, but the attitude of the staff here will kill the business! I know we will go to Harborside, where you can see the owner and managers walking the floor making sure the place is running smoothly, and the staff is friendly.

First time for dinner with another couple. First impressions the hostess was not friendly when I told her we had reservations for a window table she informed us that they only take reservations for a window table for parties of 6 or moe. After being seated we noticed four tables for four along the window but were told those were for the owners friends! We ordered oysters for an appetizer which took forever. Our cocktails were good at happy hour and our entrees were tasty but there must be a problem in the kitchen as far as waiting to have our food served and also the management although plenty of waitresses and servers a long long wait just for coffee and longer yet to pay the bill. Drinks and food was good but they really need to get their act together if they plan on surviving in the tuff resturant business

So disappointed. We have been there several times. Service has always been slow, but we dealt with it knowing it is somewhat new and we liked the food and atmosphere. BUT...This past visit was a very unpleasant experience all the way around. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table. We, and others sat there while the owners and bartender totally ignored all of us. No one would make eye contact. No one said, we will be with you in a minute. Very frustrating, especially when we saw people being served that sat down after us. (I think they were friends of owner). We often have people with us from out of the country. We often refer them to Tanners for a great local spot, but I cannot and will not do that again. Once we sat at our table, the waitress was pleasant. Dinner, another very big disappointment. I ordered the Wilted Spinach Salad. I didn't know Romaine lettuce is the new Spinach!! It was full of Romaine hidden throughout the salad. Really?? They charged me half price for it! The music started a little before 8pm. Great music but way, way too loud for dinner. We could not hold a conversation with our guest. He too was amazed at the total lack of service, especially at the bar.

We were looking forward to eating at Tanner's. However we will not go back. We did not get to experience the food. The service was so horrible that we walked out. We had to wait for a table so we waited at the bar. We ordered a drink which was promptly brought to us. However, our bartender disappeared and we never saw him again. We could not get the attention of other bartenders. One actually turned his back on us. The our buzzer went off for a table. When we approached the hostess with the buzzer lights flashing, she told us we would still have to wait as it was not really going off. That's when we left!

Outstanding dinner. The seared tuna and fireworks shrimp was yummy. The Haddock and chips was awesome. Despite being packed for the boat parade tonight, I'm glad to see the Tanner's crew back in business. Keep up the great job.

Good food Service good depending on who you get (ask for Darra) Place is LOUD...really loud. Could not here what others at my table were saying. Had a band that should have stayed in the garage. The 3 stars is for the food and service...maybe need to rethink the interior finish and layout.

Over the summer i was back in Winter Haven for a day visiting my family and I stopped at Tanners to meet a friend for lunch. We ate at the bar and the bartender was extremely helpful with helping us make a decision on what to order for lunch. the atmosphere was very chill and relax. They did have live music that day (for some type of festival) and it was really loud inside which made our lunch a lot shorter than it would have been because we couldn't hear one another talk. If it was less noisy we would have stayed longer however it was just too much to deal with. In regards to food I had the Mahi sandwich and it was pretty good. My friend had one of the flatbreads and it looked absolutely divine.

Example of a cold atmosphere environment. Make sure they don't run your credit card twice.

Ate here last night (Sunday). Food was generally ok. Service was reasonable. Avocado dip appetizer was nice. This place is a little country dive on the chain of lakes. Waitresses were friendly and ours was attentive. Loud live music if that's your thing.

On vacation in Florida to visit friends from Texas. Took me to their favorite "watering hole". The lobster mac n cheese was INSANE! Sat by the water and saw my first gator.....absolutely fabulous time. Live band, good friends and cold beer....Love it!

We visit Tanners once a week on average. Have sampled many specials never disappointed. Also think the Grouper Mango on the regular menu is delicious. We mainly dine on week nights, the weekends definitely need reservations. Only reason for only four stars is due to sometimes service isn't as expected but is definitely improving

Tonight was our first time at Tanner's and we'll be back! The food was great. I had the pork chop (yummy!) and my hubby had the firecracker shrimp burger. We also had the spinach artichoke dip. We would recommend all 3. 4 stars out of 5 because of their "waiting list." Several names ahead of us with no idea given about wait time. I realize people are unpredictable but a ballpark wait time would be helpful. We ended up grabbing 2 seats at the bar. Deryl was great and kept a smile on his face the whole time despite the lady sitting next to us who thought she was at a personal wine tasting and then complained about every. single. thing. He smiled through it all and met all her demands all while tending to all the other customers as well. We can't wait to visit again when we can sit outside and enjoy the view :)

As usual, Tanner's came through. Upper end food, but not fussy. Very casual. Directly on the water. Good friendly helpful service. In the summer it is slow during the week. But weekends very full. Band on Sundays. Food ranges from fried pickles, gator tail, to elegant steak and my favorite mango grouper. This is not a heavy breaded fried fish house. Refined dishes. The baked avocado appetizer, seared tuna are our favs.
